ER give Israel 2-1 Lead against Chile
The sold out crowd in Ramat Hasharon was treated to one of the great doubles matches of Erlich and Ram's career on Friday. The pair defeated Gold medal winners Massu and Gonzalez to give Israel a 2-1 advantage going into Sunday's reverse singles. If Okun or Sela can win their match Israel will advance to the World Group for the first time since 1985.
The match lasted almost 5 hours and ended with the best point of the match, a rally that saw all 4 players hit multiple shots and Andy Ram covering all corners of the court hitting groundstrokes and volleys of all kinds. The guys will never forget this point and likely will look back to it as one of the most memorable exchanges of their career together.
The two teams have a day to rest as Yom Kippur is observed.
